Pawning gold in Singapore is quick, regulated and private. You hand over a gold item as collateral, receive a cash loan, and get the item back once you repay the loan plus interest. This guide covers what to bring, how the valuation works, what it costs, and how to redeem your gold later.

What you need to bring

Keep it simple. You only need two things to start a pawn:

Your gold item, such as jewellery, a bar or a coin
A valid photo ID (NRIC or passport)

A receipt or assay certificate is helpful but not required. It supports the valuation, especially for bars and coins with a known purity.

How the valuation works

The pawnbroker checks three things: purity (karat), weight, and the live gold price. Loan-to-value is a percentage of the item's assessed melt value, not its original shop price. A 22K bracelet and a 24K bar are valued differently because their gold content differs.

The step-by-step process

  1. 1

    Bring your item and ID

Walk in for a free, no-obligation valuation.

  2. 2

    We test purity and weight

Your gold is assessed against the current market rate.

  3. 3

    We show the loan offer

The amount and interest rate are shown before you decide.

  4. 4

    Accept and get cash

Funds are paid on the spot once you accept.

  5. 5

    Keep your pawn ticket

It is your redemption receipt when you return.

Understanding the cost

Interest is charged monthly on the loan amount at the rate confirmed in-store before you sign. The first month uses a promotional rate, and later months use the standard monthly rate. There are no hidden fees, so the rate you are quoted is the rate you pay. Renewing a ticket extends the loan and can be done online or in branch.

Getting your gold back

To redeem, repay the loan plus accrued interest before the ticket expires, or renew it to extend the loan. Your item is returned in the same condition you left it. Pledged items are kept in insured vaults, so they stay safe while with the pawnbroker.

Tips for a smooth first pawn

  • Bring the original receipt or certificate if you have it. It can support the valuation.
  • Shop around, because a free valuation costs nothing.
  • Keep your pawn ticket safe. You need it to redeem.
